History
The Scott & White partnership is a century old. It was built to last, and built too grow, and it has. Two railroad physicians, Dr. Arthur C. Scott, Sr., and Dr. Raleigh White, Jr., came to the area and engineered an institution that was built to stand for something – values that have endured even as medicine and society have undergone historical shifts. And it was built with vision, by creative people whose legacy continues to welcome change and look to be a leader in it.
Scott & White began in the historic town of Temple, Texas, a town with ties to the railroad industry dating back to 1892. Beginning with the treatment of the Santa Fe Railroad employees, Scott & White has grown as a healthcare network with 9 hospitals and over 60 primary and specialty clinics, serving a 30-county area consisting of over 4.5 million patients.
Today, Scott & White is the largest multi-specialty practice in Texas, with more than 12,000 staff members providing exceptional care to patients at Scott & White hospitals and clinics throughout Central Texas. In addition, they deliver care to members of the Scott & White Health Plan, one of the highest rated insurance plans in the nation.
